Long ago there was a young man named Patrick. At the age of fourteen he was captured and enslaved in Ireland. After six years he escaped back to his homeland where he became a Catholic priest. Ironically, Patrick was later commissioned by the Pope to go back and evangelize Ireland. He began looking for a way to communicate to a group of people who knew nothing about the Christian faith. Patrick solved this problem with the three leaf clover, using it to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity. This simple idea allowed him to present his message. Patrick's message was so successful that he was named the patron saint of Ireland in the 8th century. This is why we love St. Patrick: he used something as simple as the three leaf clover to explain the complex nature of God.
